Night Court - Law & Order (Not Not Fun)
Soundtrack to a psychedelic buddy-cop TV show with 80s hairspray, LSD and aliens. Members of Food Pyramid and Daughters of the Sun rented a cabin, took some mushrooms, and recorded jams all night on the patio, with the name “Night Court” inspiring legal drama motifs. “None of us had watched a full episode of Law & Order,” but these guys nailed it. RIYL Law & Order, Miami Vice, Tom Brokaw, hallucinogenic substances. FCC Clean
1. (:26) quintessential DUN-DUN crime scene opener
2. (5:16) swirly main theme song, cheesy synths and thumping drum pads, some wanky guitar
3. (3:08)**CLUB BANGER** samples from news coverage of LA Riots layered over dope *techno* beats, wah-wah guitar wank concludes. I like working out to this song but I usually just start dancing and the old ladies at the YMCA think I’m on drugs (they’re not wrong per se; techno is my Prozac)
4. (9:42) fuzzy static gives way to a tense and trippy number, jittery synth pulses and midnight sax wails over noisy courtroom drama
5. (5:44) mellow shimmering bleepy bloopy synths, Emeralds-like sparkling with #chillVibes chillwave beats & fat bass swirls
6. (1:32) short fast snippet, a pounding, tense retro-synth theme before the jury delivers their verdict
7. (1:57) grand juries suck so of course there’s a prison riot with abstract beats and gnarly acid-techno synth
8. (:35) hilarious local news theme with disturbing soundbites about police corruption
9. (5:19) eeeevil lurks in the shadows, gnarly bass and sparse synth textures crawl over a gentle beat that gets busy and quasi-jungle by the end
10. (11:23)* aptly titled “night falls on the DA’s office,” chill closing credits theme with groovy organ and piano, mellow Tangerine Dream beats
