Melodic and rhythmic; lush soundscapes with slow vocals chanting abstractly about various scenes. Synths, orchestral accents, and harmonious vocals with soft basslines and percussion. Whole album has a pretty cohesive sound that's easy to get sucked into. Description indicates mid-century lounge music, '70s nature documentary soundtracks, and '90s shoegaze. Hailing from Fort Collins, they've boiled down the essence of Coloradan spirit: cherishing nature's beauty and relishing in adventurous feeling. Perfect cure for an afternoon steeped in pensive remorse. Shares elements with Vacationer; members from Candy Claws, Apples In Stereo and The Drums.
All tracks FCC-clean and have periodic vocal sections throughout, but they're buried in a nice way.
Faves: 2, 3, 4, 6. 2 -> 3 is a good combo.
1. [5:27] * Deconstructed sections. Slow and pounding.
2. [3:42] *** Woodwinds and bright stabs. An instant grabber for me.
3. [5:19] *** Rhythmic rich atmospherics, pleasant theremin-sounding synthlines, arpeggiated chords. Some stunning releases. Probably my favorite track.
4. [5:04] ** Has really beautiful sections featuring brass and fluttering woodwinds. NOTE: 24 seconds of silence at the end.
5. [4:54] * Whole song basically variations on two chords. Works well but slightly repetitive.
6. [4:57] ** Driving; thicker sections have this manic full-spectrum orchestra thing going on.
7. [3:36] Very light. Toned down saw synths and organ with strong vibrato.
8. [4:33] Organ and xylophone-sounding stuff, only a few short vocal sections.
9. [1:06] Only instrumental track (some basic syllabic vocals, no lyrics).
10. [5:04] * Lots of darker synthscapes; cosmic.
