Irene Kelley is one of the most accomplished bluegrass songwriters around.
Her new release abounds in lovely vocals, terrific arrangements, and fantastic
accompaniment by the likes of fiddler Stuart Duncan, guitarist Bryan Sutton, and
mandolinist Adam Steffey.
1 – (2:51) Carolina Wind* Fine mid-up-tempo, pretty imagery.
2 – (3:11) Coal Train* Mid-tempo modal song, haunting vocals, excellent.
3 – (3:34) These Hills* Lovely mid-tempo song of home, sweetly nostalgic.
4 – (3:21) Johnson’s Hardware Store Pretty portrait of father and place, slower.
5 – (2:40) Up In Those Blueridge Mountains* Joyful ode to home, mid-tempo, fine.
6 – (3:39) Fallin’ Anyway* Soulful mid love appeal, contemporary country sound.
7 – (3:22) Lester’s Song (These Are The Eyes)* Excellent lilting ode to loyal furry friend.
8 – (2:09) Leanin’ On The Good Times* Fine mid song on getting by, nice.
9 – (2:49) Moonlight Is Falling* Heartfelt slow-mid song of yearning, excellent.
10 – (2:52) Do You Think Of Me* Catchy mid-up love appeal, jug band sound.
11 – (2:45) Before You Call Me Home* Touching mid-tempo gospel-themed song of
gratitude.
