Pianist Michel Camilo and guitarist Tomatito team up for their third album since meeting at the Barcelona Jazz Festival 19 years ago; lovely, lush, perfectly realized melodies; romantic without being cloying
NO FCC's (all instrumental); all tracks are good; Favorite tracks: 1, 4, 5
*1- Agua e Vinho – 5:56 – beautiful, evocative rendition of Brazilian guitarist & composer Egberto Gismonti – piano and guitar intertwine with lovely harmonics punctuating
2- Our Spanish Love Song – 4:36- arrangement of jazz bassist Charlie Haden's tune; piano and then guitar trade off on melody
3-- Oblivion –6:11- starts minor, goes major; lots of chords; very lush
**4-- Gnossiennes No.1 –5:57-- nice to hear this prettily eerie Erik Satie rather than the overplayed and more ponderous Gymnopedies; cool arrangement
*5- Cinema Paradiso – 3:10 –pretty arpeggiated version of Morricone's music for the film
6- Love Theme from Cinema Paradiso- 4:22 – nice guitar work especially
7- Nuages – 6:15-- more in the standard jazz genre with lots of noodling; swing beat
8- Manha de Carnaval (Black Orpheus) – 5:54 – a little bit over-flourished for me; love the tune though
9 – About You – 2:35 – original lullaby by Michel Camilo
10- Armando's Rhumba – 3:42 – Chick Corea's ode to his father
