Drugdealer // The End of Comedy. Dream pop with folksy songwriting and a tinge of elevator music feel. Drugdealer is the new monikor of bandleader Michael Collins who has previously produced under the monikers Run DMT and Salvia Plath, which have a more electronic feel than this new project. Album is top-heavy in terms of song strength.
Sounds like: The Beatles, Of Montreal, and Mutations-era Beck
1) (1:28) Wave sounds fading into a smooth horn and piano melody. 2) (3:08)** Slow acoustic and slide guitar jam, vocals are tight here 3) (3:17)** Catchy, groovy, piano with bass guitar and horns. 4) (3:21)* Acoustic duet with Ariel Pink with light drum-kit a minute in 5) (2:22) Groovy and funny love song with some flute 6) (2:17) Violin and organ sounds repeat over cymbal hits, good outro music 7) (2:43) Slow and somewhat dull song – vocals, organ, and guitar over drums 8) (2:31) Male and female singing, horn, and piano with a fun chorus and interesting vocal turns 9) (5:31) Lazy and humorous jam 10) (3:03) Retro psychedelic vocal samples fading into a lazy singer-songwriter feel at 0:40, the chorus is just “la-la-la” for awhile, song feels thrown together 11) (1:44) Another slow piano and horn duet with soft vibraphones halfway through, then sounds of a man laughing at 1:25 being twisted into chaotic noise.
