Here is a musician who put a lot of thought and creativity into both the CD jacket and the CD. Both deep and profound, as well as light-hearted and fun, this is a nice cohesive album than flows together, each song distinctive yet remaining true to Joshua James’ sound, which is firmly in the Indie/Americana with a hint of country maybe genre. I especially like that his website is “www.iamnotreal.com”, because his music does have a hint of unreality running through it. Good mellow listening, esp #1, 2, 5, 7
1. slow/med- Joshua’s unique voice in a hauntingly evocative tune
2. slow/med - catchy tune about a coyote caller-calls included
3. med – more straightforward indie rock sound
4 .slow/med – varied rock/beat
5. slow – gentle, sweet tune of slight desperation
6. slow/med – straightforward Indie rock sound, ***FCC***(goddamn), familiar melody
7. slow/med - I think the best song here, builds momentum, varied voice/sounds
8. slow – starts acoustic and opens up, this is Joshua’s sound
9. slow – you really hear the songwriter/ troubadour tradition here
10. slow/med – nice acoustic ballad to end the album, hopeful tune
