Review: stellar pianist Galper redefined the piano trio over 6 CDs released during this century. He has also backed Chet Baker, Phil Woods, & Cannonball Adderley. Now he stretches out with a quartet of young turks and everyone is up to the challenge. Each piece is a freewheeling foray into what is referred to as "rubato" playing. The best way to define the term is to listen. There isn't a dull moment on this disc. Three originals & one cover.
if You Like: Wynton Kelly, Bill Evans, Geri Allen, Charles Lloyd, Chris Potter
