Review: The Cat is back! This is a collection of new and revamped very early tunes by the man once known as Cat Stevens, who was huge when I was in college in the 70s. His whimsical tone still maintains the fanciful & philosophical lilt of his past and the songs are mostly life lessons. Even the old tunes sound new.
Track Review (favorites denoted by *):
*1/ Blackness Of The Night (2:59) - synth starts> bleak midtempo song> orchestrl break> midtempo song> quick fade
*2/ See What Love Did To Me (3:44) - guitar starts> upbeat & uptempo song about rebirth, with chorus> African guitar solo swells with chorus> uptempo song> fade
*3/ The Laughing Apple (3:02) - vocal starts> slow tempo song with chorus swings to midtempo> fade
4/ Olive Hill (2:44) - guitar starts> midtempo song with a spiritual theme> horns solo> midtempo song> quick fadde
*5/ Grandsons (3:05) - guitar starts> midtempo song> quick fade
6/ Mighty Peace (2:18) synth/piano starts> slow tempo song> fade on chorus
