Review: Bop: straight, no chaser. A remarkable collection of stellar performances from a '76-'77 tour. All the selections are jazz standards, but nothing is cliché about the performances. As the songs develop, Shaw's searing horn and Cook's roaring saxophone create rich improvisational interactions.
If You Like: Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Sonny Rollins
