Bring Down The House Lights is the debut album by Seattle, Washington’s band Dirty Sidewalks. I’m tripping so much on this record because it just sounds like if it was recorded in 1991. The production, the effects, and the vocal style is 100% British modern rock. Furthermore, Bring Down The House Lights is that The Jesus & Mary Chain LP the band should have recorded between 1990’s Automatic and 1992’s Honey’s Dead. No kidding. Dave Kendall’s 120 Minutes forever.

RIYL: The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Stone Roses, The Dandy Warhols, early Blur and Primal Scream’s 1987 LP Sonic Flower Groove.

Recommended Tracks: 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11

1. (2:58) ** Rock and Roll (Save my Soul) – Upbeat rocker a la 1991 Modern Rock. Solid.
2. (1:55) *** Never Wanted to Be Loved – Another upbeat recording. This could have been a TJ&MC B-side of any of the Automatic singles. Catchy.
3. (3:20) Already – Medium tempo piece a la early B.R.M.C.
4. (3:25) * Always – Medium-up tempo rocker. Enjoyable guitar riff and vocal melody.
5. (4:15) Heard You Wanna Kill Me – Retro modern rock power ballad. Fine guitar riff.
6. (3:22) ** Euphoria – Cool medium tempo track. Vocals and guitar effects work for me.
7. (2:20) * Black Holes – Semi instrumental piece with catchy sounds and a Stephen Hawking voice sample at the end. You can’t get more 1990s than that.
8. (3:28) Where’s the Love – Modern rock ballad.
9. (2:39) 2nd Song – Upbeat recording. The guitars remind me of early Blur.
10. (3:31) *** Never Be Alone – Fine track with the energy of those acid house influenced Chapterhouse recordings. Pleasant guitars and vocal melody. One of my favorite tracks on the record.
11. (2:56) ** Either Way – Upbeat modern rocker with tints of The Cure’s Wish period and C86 faster recordings.
12. (4:31) House II – Medium-up tempo. This could be the b-side if “Never Be Alone” becomes a single.
