The second CD featuring music from residents of a maximum security prison in Malawi, the poorest nation on earth; amazing tribute to the human spirit and artistry under dire conditions
NO FCC's; Favorite Tracks : 1, 3, 4, 14
*1 – I am Done with Evil—2:33-- solo plus chorus with basic string and percussion in Malawi; straightforward, tuneful, harmonizing and felt
2- Men Must Repent –:31-- a capella rant
*3—I Will Never Stop Grieving for you, Wife –3:09- tender ballad with minimalist but skillful guitar accompaniment and hand-clapping toward end
*4—All Is Loss – 1:49 – starts with shrill ululating; a capella and then vocal percussion; great vocal texture
5—Sister, Take Good Care of Your Husband –1:47 – solo female with finger snapping
6—Ambush of the Slaves –1:53 – upbeat with whistled bridge
7—I Will Not Return to Prison – 2:31—male singer with guitar and harmony track
8 – Leave My Daughter Alone –2:23-- male singer with drum and bass vamp
9--AIDS Has No Cure –1:12—nice hand-clapping pattern with singer
10—Take Care of Yourself –1:15 –lots of percussion on this one with male singer
11- Everything Has An Owner – 4:50 – longest and most ambitious piece; nice bass vamp; a little low key
12—I Wonder [HIV] –:25-- very energetic
13—Protect Me—3:00-- not quite on pitch; sounds like an autoharp accompanying; interesting
*14-Sharing Joy –1:10-- Zomba Women's Project shouts out, pauses, and then settles down into tuneful harmony
