Instrumental rock from Sydney Australia. Moments that remind me of progenitors of huge surf The Mermen, or even post-rock, but then I realize that this is a big instrumental doom band. Great stuff. For fans of later twangy Earth, Isis, Mermen, Do Make Say Think, Swans.
1) (8:27) quiet spooky atmospheric intro, chiming guitar appears pretty, then a cool epic foreboding feel comes…is this “surf doom”? 2) (5:54) big doomy riff out the gate 3)* (9:36) quiet start, then the chiming Mermen guitar feel returns, heaviness is present but not so obvious “doom”, more undefinable, the way we like things at KZSU, don’t worry, its picks up at the end 4)* (13:50) experimental spooky noise in the intro, huge twang guitar appears, glacial, tom tom tribal drums fade in heavy and it all crashes down, midway theres a great noise-fest, like the soundtrack to Michael Gira’s worst nightmare
