“Progressive doom metal” from Brighton England. Big drama rock, with “devil” themes, long dramatic tracks. Bombastic male vocals remind me of Judas Priest, Dio, or something, and the music follows suit in places, but in others theres some serious doom and blackness that make this good, worthy of the rotation. Some familiar elements like Alice in Chains or something in there with the big dark metal, must be those vocals and guitars that go clean, sans distortion at times, the big high drama guitar leads. This CD needs to exist, these types of bands need to exist.
1) (8:42) long spoken word intro, dark prose with religious undertones, then a slow/mid classic rock feel with Rob Halford (Judas Priest) soaring vocals, goes through all kinds of big drama, cool doomy feel in last 3 minutes with swirling noise, excellent 2) (7:24) big rock built around a simple riff, operatic vocals of course 3) (7:35) dramatic and minor, theres even Tuvan throat singing midway to add to the fray 4) (9:23) sustain comes out of previous, then a bigger more upbeat rocker ensues, slides back to the heavy operatic drama 5)* (8:51) cool plodding bass part early on, doomy march 6)* (12:53) quiet intro, slow to build, mellow and dark for good first half at least, high drama again 7)* (7:11) quiet intro, then head nodding slow rocker that picks up nice, quiet 1 minute outro of bazouki or something 8)* (6:17) simple cool riff rocker, nice beat, goes through swingy rock a la Sabbath
