K. Allico is GOM Entertainment's newest signee. Heavy trap beats and style give a new sound to GOM and his catchy hooks and melodies (creative harmonies), along with his substantive lyrics and his willingness to be vulnerable on the microphone give K. Allico's fresh sound a certain realness and depth not always seen in the trap game. Other CHH artists have played around with the trap movement's sound and vibe in recent years, but K. Allico is a trap artist - the trap is where he is most at home. Great production on K. Allico's debut helps create a fun vibe while allowing us insight into the views of an introspective artist. I enjoyed this album. Favorite tracks are: 3, 4, 5 & 6. No FCC's. Reviewed by Daniel of LJH.
*1. 2:26 - Slow tempo. Heavy kicks overlaid with a fat bass guitar interspersed with hi hats, vocal samples and adlibs; otherwise simple drumkit. A very funky beat. Something that sounds like either a harmonica or a flute seems to enter towards the end of the track, as the music drops out.
*2) 3:44 - Med tempo. A single Piano riff carries the melody of this trap-gem. Dope drumkit, which, like the first track, includes layered kick drums, snares and hi-hats rolls. A few other production effects (something that resembles an organ or a sustained electric keyboard sound in the background, along with a bell/chime hit on top of the snare at times), along with a repeating vocal sample.
**3) 3:53 - Slow tempo. Xylophone, heavy bass guitar join a muted drumkit to give this track an eerie, contemplative sound. A piano played staccato underlays the xylophone (which is also modulated at points during the song).
**4) 3:00 - Med/fast tempo. Piano with some sort of modulation, hard drums with an 808-type kick carry the melody.
**5) 4:02 - Slow tempo. Piano played in the lower registers and a heavily muted kick (almost sounds like a conga or bongo). Very simple music force the listener to catch the words and vibe out with K. Allico.
**6) 4:37 - Slow/med tempo. Horns (digital) and woodwinds (flute) joined by standard trap drums and hi-hat rolls. Also sounds like there might be an electric guitar being plucked in the background.
*7) 3:40 - Med/fast tempo (TRIBUTE TO HIS WIFE). Very catchy melody, R&B drum-feel with a rolling snare, bass guitar and deep kick drums. Very upbeat. Something is overlaying the kick, like a muted piano which is eventually joined by an electric piano sound.
*8) 2:28 - Slow tempo. Older-style Church choir vocal sample opens this up, with an electric (digitally modified) plucked acoustic guitar, which lead into the "beat drop." Simple drums, heavy kick and hi-hats, then comes the modified snare along with other almost unnoticeable production effects, very short in their attack. Finally, what sounds like acoustic guitar panned left and an electric version of the same, modulated up an octave, panned left.
