Chill atmospheric electronica. Minimalism. Solo release by member of the band Mountains. Very film soundtrack’ish: One long composition that evolves over course, starting simple and growing in complexity, cut into tracks, sections, where things shift, take on genetic drift, shift. Totally hypnotic, minimalism (but not as minimal as say Eliane Radigue or Alvin Lucier). RIYL Phillip Glass, Tomita, Eno.
Some pieces fit together better than others as noted and should be played together: 1-3, 5-9, Track 4 could stand on its own or be included in either bin.
I suspect that he really wanted to track this as I've noted, but someone said “nobody has the attention span to listen to or play a 20 min track on the radio”. Ahem...
1) (3:56) chill looping dreamy synth 2) (2:50) bass tones appear and it grows 3) (2:50) continues out of previous 4)* (6:21) chills out with low drone, then looping tones appear 5) (4:45) comes out of previous and synth washes take center 6) (5:04) total continuation of previous but some new tones appear 7) (3:04) continuation, more new tones 8) (2:53) getting more complex 9) (2:13) comes out of previous and is a denouement, as the layers peel away
