“Goodguy Sun” Karla Kane
New single released by Karla Kane and friends (all local). Written by English songwriter, poet and author, Martin Newell (Cleaners from Venus) and performed by Kane, KC Bowman and Khoi Huynh (Redwood City’s Corner Laughers); Bradley Skaught (Bye Bye Blackbirds); and Gina Sperinde. Wonderful Bay Area indie pop-rock. Will eventually be part of a compilation released on Big Stir Records.
— Francis
Recommended: 1, 2. No FCCs detected.
1. (4:09) Goodguy Sun – Wistful, melancholy autumnal sunshiny pop — longing for the warmer days of summer. Ukulele. Simple, dynamic bass line. Piano. Snappy rhythm. ****
2. (3:23) Sisters Of The Pollen – A true bee-side — focusing on the importance and plight of honeybees and other pollinators. Sung almost like a round, with rich harmonies and handclaps. Written in the key of B, of course. Incorporates Richard Youell’s recording of three queen bees piping during the trail-out. ***
