Live And Never Learn – I See Hawks in LA (2018)
8'th release from this LA based alt country outfit. In it they update the laid
back so-Cal country rock sound of Jackson Brown and The Eagles.
Great musicianship but I found some cuts to be somewhat tepid.
If you like: Flying Burrito Brothers, Donna the Buffalo
*#1) Enchanting, toe tapping ode to trees. Waller's deep voice really
shines here. Great bridge too. (5:33)
*#2) Uptempo rocker with nice steel guitar (4:24)
*#3) Midtempo with nice guitar intro (4:14)
#4) Uptempo rocker about a stoner and his friend Mellisa (4:52)
*#5) Midtempo, honky-tonk number with nice guitar (3:47)
#6) Mellow rocker with nice steel guitar (3:59)
*#7) Toe tapping country rocker about fire in the LA foothills (4:41)
*#8) Guitar nicely captures the feeling in this song about walking through
an Irish graveyard (3:41)
- #9) Quirky song about surviving a car crash due to a parka. (4:10)
#10) Hard driving boogie number (3:07)
#11) Midtempo, Adler's vocals work well with the beautiful fiddle backing (3:01)
*#12) Fairport Convention sounding acoustic number with Victoria on vocals (4:22)
#13) Slow waltz with nice fiddle but not real interesting (3:29)
#14) Slow tempo number about staring into the sun (3:49)
*Mr. Bones especially likes these
