INDIE ROCK
This is Oakland based singer-songwriter Dick Stusso’s second LP. He’s a good guitarist, clever songwriter, and decent singer, but it’s hard to pin him down to a genre or describe this music, except to say it’s based on a standard electric guitar, bass, drums rock-band format. Songs are very mixed: some retro rock n roll, some edgy, some sort of goofy.
No FCC issues
1 * Mid-slow. Laconic, aloof criticism of what it is people do. Mellow start; builds. (2:56)
2 * Mid-slow. Several sections with dead stops between them. Very retro. (3:01)
3 Slow, somber. Living life swimming up stream. (2:44)
4 * Mid-tempo. A dark, cynical look at modern life. Watch for sudden stop. (4:39)
5 Mid-tempo. Silly little ditty, with some old-time piano. (1:07)
6 Very slow. Feels like a drugged out blur. Really depressed & depressing. (2:06)
7 * Mid-tempo. Drinking song with a bit of Southern Rock twang. Kinda good. (3:13)
8 VERY slow. A real downer. Ends with a guitar solo, then piano solo. Fade out. (3:21)
9 Mid-tempo. Another cynical look at modern life, especially consumerism. (3:25)
10 * Title track. Mid-tempo, swaying 6/8 slow-dance rhythm. Good singing. (3:13)
