Elegant experimental collaboration between San Francisco artists Aria Rostami and Daniel Blomquist (KZSU Day of Noise performer!). Textured ambient/noise washes paired with tape loops and driving techno beats. The first two tracks were recorded live at Grey Area Foundation of the Arts (SF) as a protest piece against Trump’s travel ban list. This performance incorporates sampled voice recordings of Persian poets Rumi, Hafez and Forough Farakhzad. The third song is muffled drony techno and the last track is hazy and freeform. All songs FCC clean. RIYL: Wolfgang Voigt, Monolake, Christian Loffler, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Sontag Shogun
1. (12:16) Spoken word/tapeloop intro transitions into a gentle techno beat. Slowly intensifies into a hammering rhythm with intense blasts of static and distortion.
2. (9:45) Persian spoken word/singing swirled into a dense pitter-patter rainstick beat. Gradually transitions into ringing cavernous drone.
3. (13:46) Two minutes of echoey cluttered noise that fades into a longform Roland-squelching Roland acid techno suite. Longform and abstract while still maintaining a steady techno framework.
4. (7:41) Haunting and beautiful. Bleary, manipulated organ samples over deep drone basslines. At the halfway point, the piece intensifies with blustery static washes and icy synth notes.
