Until now these unreleased “demos” (recorded at a radio station) from 1967 were underground specialties showcasing 3 tracks of a band that “was the heaviest of the 60’s… the fathers of Heavy Metal”: pure acid drenched walls of Marshall power fuzz pounding drums and sonic bass. San Francisco is often cited for spawning a rich psychedelic sound from this era which leads to understandable head scratching when somnambulant bands like The Grateful Dead are cited. This stuff (along with the 50 Foot Hose) shows that some seriously bad-assed loud insane searing heavy stuff was indeed happening here in our hometown despite what was pawned by the media. Crank this band. Killer record.
1) (5:38) bad assed with the searing lead turnarounds and dead stops 2)* (10:03) fuzzed out pounding relentless 3) (4:29) cover of the Who’s Summertime Blues, killer 4) (1:07) this is the entirety of side B of the record: it’s a promotional spot urging one to buy the blue cheer album. Its kind of a call to action so I’m not 100% sure this is FCC safe, strangely enough
