An original member of the Beach Boys (grew up with the Wilsons, recorded on their first most notable records) Reverb drenched surf and high quality “Big Guitar” as you might imagine. “…He went on to front the Marksmen, worked with acts including Casey Kasem's Band Without a Name, the Moon, Delaney & Bonnie, Colours and Warren Zevon, and studied jazz and classical guitar at the Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory”. Play with Dwayne Eddy, Link Wray, Dick Dale and with the fabulous Jack Miller CD on the afile right now. Great covers at tail end.
Special thanks go again to Al Perry, “the mayor of Tucson”, who sent this to me with the Miller CD, having connections to both Marks and Miller.
1) (2:15) slow intro drama, big twang, then full on double picked ventures style surf instrumental!! 2) (2:07) garagey pop strummy, lyrics appear, cars girls 3) (2:12) 12 bar simple surf instrumental 4) (1:52) more upbeat with lyrics sultry love despair song. 5) (1:53) swingy, “food fair” lyrics, almost country swing 6)* (2:38) dense good sound, mid paced 12 bar progression 7)* (2:23) “let’s dance”, classic that Ramones made famous in my mind 8)* (3:08) “summertime blues”, fully twanged 9) (2:24) big ol “surf jam”, instrumental 10)* (2:23) “Louie Louie”, nice and you can actually decipher the lyrics!! 11) (2:47) “custom car show” 12 bar boogie surf
