“Where You Are” New Spell
LOCAL. Lavish, summery synth-pop from the San Francisco duo, New Spell. This is the first single from a forthcoming EP, “Of Time – Part III” — not due to be released until 2020. Play! The disc also includes two remixes of tracks from New Spell’s 2017 EP “Of Time – Part I.”

1. (4:02) Where You Are – Dreamy, dancey, infectious electro-pop. Set to almost an Afrobeat rhythm, the song features the shimmering keyboards and soaring vocals of lead singer-songwriter, Leanne Kelly — backed by the solid beat of drummer, Jacob Frautschi. Brighter than some of New Spell’s most recent synth-pop — with an uplifting message about acceptance, wherever you are. Catchy and fun! ****
2. (5:55) Never Change (Senzatimore Remix) – Super-big, dramatic remix of Track 3 from New Spell’s 2017 release, “Of Time – Part I.” Fuzzed-out synths and driving beat throughout much of this anthemic remix. ***
3. (5:14) Rain (Maitre D Remix) – Snappy, skipping remix of the lead single from “Of Time – Part I.” Piano featured in the bridge, along with swelling synth orchestra. Incorporates rain sound effects and reverbed claves sounding like a persistent drip of rainwater. ***
