Razor-sharp lyrical rap, the third full-length from London-based female MC Little Simz. Born in London to Nigerian parents, Little Simz, or “Bars Simzon” has garnered praise for her honest, confessional, and ideologically progressive material, and has recently made appearances on BBC Radio 1 Xtra and Revolt TV. An open and poignant coming-of-age album recommended to fans of Speech Debelle, Ms. Dynamite, Azealia Banks, and Tierra Whack. All songs FCC Clean (Radio Edited Version). Start with: 2, 6, 3, 10
(1.) (2:48) boom-bap drum loop with a deep growling baseline and a flurry of samples. Dark, scheming braggadocio perfectly riding the beat (*2.) (3:05) Fuzzed-out strummy bassline, forcefully spat bars (3.) (3:46) Lead single. Swingy production, smooth late night R&B atmosphere (4.) (4:39) Bouncy bars with moody acoustic guitar and film scores cut up into the production. Lyrics addressing gun violence (5.) (2:34) Suspenseful, cinematic, feminist lyrics (*6.) (3:11) Bouncy catchy beat with fluttery 9-bit triplets. Coolheaded rap on top (7.) (3:27) Sharp drum loops and sugary guest vocals provided by Little Dragon (8.) (3:15) Existential. Confrontational and confessional. Dense kaleidoscopic production awith standout percussive elements (9.) (4:55) Psychedelic phaser-drenched beat. Vulnerable and personal breakup song (*10.) (3:45) Atmospheric. Jazzy, dense backup vocals, crate digger vibes
