Dark ambient metal meets hip hop, industrial beats. Collaboration between members of Godflesh, Ming Midas Sound et al create creepy atmospherics that incorporate heavy beats. The inclusion of Philly poet musician activist Moor Mother’s hip hop delivered vocals for several tracks bends genres, with brutal themes of racism and chauvinism. Most is instrumental, dark downtempo industrial. Like a cross between Bowery Electric-Immortal Technique-Nadja. Truly majestic stuff, holding Relapse Records legacy true to form.
FCCs: 2, 4 sadly (safe harbor okay, just a few bad words, justifiably spoken)
1) (4:53) very creepy ambient, woman’s “evil” voice, builds 2)FCCs sadly (5:27) fucked up synth beat and tones give a minimal but deep beat, spoken vocals return with hip hop tones, echoey and no less creepy 3) (4:06) slow simple synth beat and bass, heavy layering feeling of vocs, wow, vocs run with hip hop cadence, delivery 4) FCCs too bad (7:53) layering of spoken word and tones just insanely crazy, highly recommended for safe harbor 5)* (6:14) downtempo overall, still very dark, less vocal convoluted but still manipulated, excellent themes of chauvinism and racism 6) (4:06) slow dark plod 7)* (6:26) cool noise tinged downtempo beat, instrumental 8) (4:36) killer dark downtempo creepy, instrumental 9) (4:26) another sick downtempo creep similar to previous, middle part breakdown 10) (5:48) industrial tone to the downtempo 11) (4:31) begins with a quiet creepy noise 12) (4:47) atmospheric until midway when hollow bass drones appear
