In her debut release, King hits it out of the park by presenting an intriguing mix of americana, blues and straight ahead R&R. Her smokey vocals exude Joplin level energy but she can also hit crystal clear high notes easy as slipping off of a wet log. She is a masterful tunesmith having written or cowritten every song on the disk, which includes such great lines as “hold me till lonely don’t live here no more”. For her “songwriting is like touching the hearts of other people” and she believes in music as therapy, hence the album title. If you at all dig powerful female americana & blues vocals backed by a red hot band, you’ll want to give Radio Therapy a spin. Play the whole dang disk and crank it up to 11.
