My personal favorite album of 2022! Wonderful, mysterious, luscious songs from Dalt. The music is mostly slow, with subdued singing in Spanish, subtly-quirky instrumentation, sparse bits of electronics, and beautiful reverb applied throughout. The creative percussion sounds (blocks?, chimes?, glass bottles?) remind me of Tom Wait's album Raindogs.
Track 1: Starts with an echoey organ line, slow horns join in, then a high flute line and strings and percussion, finally vocals, charming.
Track 2: Slow flute, strings, then whispered vocals. Creative percussion, background vocals singing sylabules not words creep in.
Track 3: Sultry sung vocals over a slow rolling rhythm, creative percussion again through out.
Track 4: Flat horn notes and block percussion, then an echoey trumpet line, electronic reverby sounds mix in, then sung vocals.
Track 5: Vocals sung quietly, more single syllable backing vocals.
Track 6: A bit louder, horn lines drive the song, vocals are scattered.
Track 7: Almost a carnival feel, vocals are extra sultry here.
Track 8: More uptempo, starts with organ and spoken lyrics.
Track 9: Starts with echoey wind sounds, then acoustic bass notes and woodwinds, then murky whispered vocals. Like the sound of a mysterious carnival leaving town.
Track 10: Mellow organ and acoustic bass instrumental, woodwinds join later, then sounds fizzle out at the end.
