Short and sweet EP from new Vienna-based house label and party promoters Luv Shack. Great clubby energy, all tracks have a serious groove and do a great job of incorporating classic house and disco elements into a fresh sound. All tracks FCC Clean.
RIYL: Tensnake, Oberst & Buchner, Dixon
(1.) (6:06) Gleeful house track with plenty of cowbell, a stompy four to the floor beat and swirled vocal samples
(2.) (6:26) Slow-building house with nice perky melodies over a hazy washed-out background. A bit mysterious. Introspective “what lies beyond” monologue at the 3:30 mark
(3.) (6:13) Punchy disco-house with lots of funk. Some really nice skittery Nile-Rodgers-esque guitar riffs. Really cool marimba melodies and great growling bassline towards the end
(4.) (6:22) Great Chicago acid house tribute (complete with the reverb-soaked “rock the house” samples) full of references to classic greats Frankie Knuckles, Phuture, Trax records etc. Nice bubbly synth lines and creative dynamics keep things fresh
