COUNTRY ROCK
Margo Price’s third full length album was released while we were shut out of the station. It’s worth catching up on it. All songs were written by Price or co-written by her and husband/band-member Jeremy Ivey. Lyrics & studio photos are included in the insert.
FCC clean
1 * Mid-slow. Pretty Stevie Nicks-ish ballad w nice piano & muted band (4:11)
2 Uptempo country rock about a bf who left town in a hurry (3:14)
3 Uptempo crunchy rocker about making it from lowlife to big time (3:31)
4 Slow. Deceptive pretty song about tough subjects: being abused, trying to get sober (3:09)
5 Slow. Meaning seems to be personal but unclear; starts out spare, grows bigger. (3:50)
6 Mid-fast. Taking some (perhaps unwise) risks with love. Kind of 80s boppy. (2:51)
7 * Slow. Reflection on past love w some striking (& painful) symbols & metaphors (3:36)
8 ** Mid-tempo country rock about leaving a bad situation. (3:01)
9 ** Mid-tempo. My hometown couldn’t hold me; I hit the highway. Strong songwriting; good accompaniment from guitar, organ, & choir. (3:44)
10 ** Mid-tempo. One woman’s unreserved commitment to love, despite all the shit that’s going on in the world. Powerful. (4:35)
