ACOUSTIC FOLK & COUNTRY
A promotional grab bag of acoustic (& mostly acoustic) music in a variety of styles. Note that tracks 4 & 5 are switched on the jacket info.
FCC clean
* Slow. A gorgeous solo concert performance of a hit from McLean’s American Pie album, stripped down to just voice & acoustic guitar. Applause at both ends. (4:38)
Mid-fast. Southern-fried blues rock with piano, harmonica, horns. (4:49)
* Mid-tempo. Good neo-trad country true with a lonesome, melancholy lyric. (2:55)
* Mid-fast. Humorous, faux-hick song about making the best of a bad situation. (3:13)
** Mid-tempo. Sweet country love song about appreciating a simple, happy life. (5:24)
Mid-fast. Singer-songwriter folk rock. Male singer. Pleasant, but just ok.(4:35)
Slow. A Kate-Wolf-like folk feel. Female singer, guitar, hand drums, wood flutes. (3:33)
Mid-tempo. Gee, kids sure grow up fast. Aw shucks, is this ever corny. (3:41)
Mid-fast. An old novelty song done in a goofy old-timey manner. (2:21)
** Slow. Emotional singer-songwriter country rock with nice pedal steel. (4:07)
* Mid-fast. Growly Dave-Van-Ronk-ish rootsiness. (3:25)
Mid-slow. Folk song about meditating in the woods. Dylan-like harmonica. (3:42)
Mid-tempo. A pointless story about listening to a battle of the bands. (3:57)
* Slow. Folk ballad about a lonely woman in NYC. Intriguing instrumentation. (5:05)
Mid-tempo. Bouncy country-folk with fiddle. Band is good; lyrics are shallow. (2:30)
* Mid-slow. Sweet, loving folk song; nice female lead & male harmony voices. (2:59)
Mid-tempo. Sounds almost like old-time skiffle music; it didn’t move me. (3:06)
** Slow. Singer-songwriter ballad about drawing strength from mountains. (4:05)
