KZSU Day of Noise veteran Ernesto Diaz-Infante plays fretless electric guitar with effects produced by digital modeler. He is joined by Lisa Cameron on lap steel guitar, percussion, and electronics. The varied results of their collaboration run from psychedelic improv jams to sheer distortion & noise. Something for everyone. :-)

Track titles allude to Jefferson Airplane songs (“Embryonic Journey” and “Somebody to Love” are on Surrealistic Pillow) or play with their lyrics (“sister by the hand” and “purple berries” are both from “Wooden Ships” on Volunteers), while “Starchip” is a pun on Paul Kantner’s post-Airplane band names. But this is nothing at all like the 60s San Fran sound.

1 very slow. String plucking, tapping & scraping over a droning bottom. Clangs & bangs in the 2nd half. Little else happens. Eerie like the scary part of a sci-fi movie. (14:24)
2 mid-fast. Machinery sounds & deep bass thumping; free electric-guitar chaos. If you’re into unstructured experimental noise, this is the one for you. (10:48)
3 mid-tempo. A triangle chiming; a clock tick-tocking; intimations of nature sounds with infinite reverb & max distortion; quite strange but more listable than prior two. (7:38)
4 * mid-tempo. A bit more structure here: definite percussion rhythms & suggestions of “melody” on guitar & tuned percussion (bells, etc). It’s even kinda tonal. (8:20)
5 mid-slow. A blend of machine noise, bangs, and a vaguely Japanese melody (7:54)
6 * very slow. Low rumbling; guitar arpeggios; background noise suggesting surf or wind; then some sort of warning signal at the end. Fade out. The most approachable track. (3:40)
