BAD PREMONITION is alt-pop artist Valerie Teicher’s latest EP. In Teicher’s own words, these 6 songs are about finding her way back to the driver’s seat after losing control of her career, life, and livelihood. The album is catchy and dreamy like most of Teicher’s releases; however, it’s noticeably more synth-heavy than her previous works, with every single song on the EP having ‘can’t-be-missed’ synth in its production.
FCC: 4, 5
Recs: 1, 2, 3, 5
*(3:02) FAMILIAR - mid-slow tempo.. a dramatic, wordy, synth-HEAVY track with drums… picks up in the middle
*(3:03) BAD PREMONITION - slow tempo… clear vocals and lyrically driven… the last 30 seconds are repetitive but it works really well for the song
*(3:38) ¿QUIÉN TE MANDA? - mid-slow tempo… cool bass line… has the production of a 2000s pop track… half Spanish, half English
(3:41) MONA LISA - slow tempo… “sparkly” keys with romantic layered vocals, definitely the dreamiest song on the album … funky bass line! a song that grows on you; FCCs: shit
*(3:25) GRIP - mid-fast tempo… dancey pop song with falsetto harmonies.. steady synth instrumentation through the entire song; FCCs: shit
(3:06) COLOR - mid tempo … pulsing beat and falsetto tones… a bit repetitive and arguably the weakest on the EP
