“Every Inch Of Earth Pulsates” W.H. Lung
Third studio album from the alternative, synth rock band out of Manchester, England. Quasi-nostalgic collection that recaptures a dynamic 80s New Wave vibe, updated for today. Great guitar work interwoven with layered synths. Stellar lead vocals, primarily by Joe Evans with lots of rich backing. High-energy, stadium-ready tracks meant to be played live. RIYL: The War On Drugs, LCD Soundsystem, Methyl Ethel, The Naked and Famous, 80s New Wave bands.

Recommended: 5, 1, 4, 2, 7, 9. No FCCs detected.

1. (5:16) Lilac Sky — Shimmering synths infused with an intricate rhythm, creating a dramatic soundscape. Cascading, shoegaze-y vocals evoke a mystical quality. ****
2. (3:39) Bliss Bliss — Uplifting electropop anthem, with synth arpeggios and euphoric soaring vocals. ***
3. (3:25) Thinner Wine — More traditional indie rocker featuring urgent strummed guitars, pulsing bass and vocals that sound like across between the Who and Future Islands.
4. (3:34) Bloom And Fade — Distinctive krautrock beat, synths and guitars provide a bounce to this swirling tune in the style of The War On Drugs. ***
5. (3:55) How To Walk — Big, high-energy single with roaring, slightly distorted guitars and woo – oo vocals over the top. Great hooks ****
6. (3:35) Flowers In The Rain — Female lead vocals by Hannah Peace on this jangly number. Reminiscent of bands such as Alvvays.
7. (4:09) I Can’t Lie — Starts with staccato synth notes, and then becomes a mesmerizing, dance-y synth pop tune that pays homage to the 80s with its New Wave vibe. ***
8. (3:21) The Painting Of The Bay — Another 80s New Wave throwback, this time more reminiscent of bands such as Depeche Mode.
9. (5:40) I Will Set Fire To The House — Stadium-style, synth-driven sway. Big reverbed vocals a la LCD Soundsystem over a jittery synth track and steady drumbeat. “We’ll dance into the sunrise.” Memorable closer. ***
