This is the debut album from Crack City Rockers, a Portland, OR, rock band. The sounds you’ll hear are very reminiscent of late-70s NY punk. That means a lot of Television-style guitar work, Lou Reed-style vocals. There are also echoes of Richard Hell, the Ramones, just to name a few. To me, it didn’t sound too derivative. The most contemporary comparison is The Strokes, I guess, but I liked this a whole lot more. It had more personality, I suppose. There’s quite a range of songs here too – slow ones, long ones. None are bad, but my picks were:
.upbeat, catchy rocker to start it off. FCC: “shit”
.very crafty, classic rock style guitar work, slower love song
.sex-obsessed lyrics, fast rock song. FCC: explicit lyrics and “fuck”
.piano, swaggering guitars. Very cool.
.lovely, slow, melodic love song with the standard elements: electric guitar, drums, whiny vocals
.bluesy-sounding guitar and lyrics.
