Sound-based improv. This is SO COOL: Derome recorded 3 CDs of 96-second improvs, plus lots of silent tracks ... then played them back simul-taneously IN SHUFFLE MODE, recording the results onto this single CD!! The result is a random set of solo, duo, and trio improvs. It's a fun idea that meshed extremely well in the end (Derome did have to excise 2 tracks that didn't work.)

It gets cooler: The accompanying booklet tells what was on the three original CDs (with pictures of the instruments used), and it includes a MAP showing you which tracks of those CDs are playing, and when.

OK, so it's a geeky gimmick .... me, I ate it up!

Most of the music is loud and squirrelly, so you don't get many long and silent pauses. Pick any track -- and have fun consulting the map while you do!
