FEZ DISPENSER - Fez dispenser
Skin and Barrel Music, 2001
JAZZ TECHNO FUSION
Drum machine beats, samples, programmed synthetic bass and jazzy electric guitar.
Groovy for a short time, conventional and unsurprising for some of the rest, and passably experimental for the rest of the rest ;-).
Most songs fail to take-off or develop into something interesting (it really feels like a one-man band),
Fred's picks: # 4, 7, (13)
01 - 03:23 - fast beat, funky guitar, chorus includes vibes and harmonica samples
02 - 03:33 - really groovy mid-speed samples and syncopated rythm, but gets somewhat monotonous after 1 minute
03 - 03:48 - more jazzy and organic feel, chorus becomes repetitive after 2 minutes
04 - 04:35 - mid-speed, non-rythmic guitar makes the song sustainable. Variations are also more elaborate.
05 - 05:05 - more experimental feel, non-repetitive guitar, shame for the cheesy beat.
06 - 03:04 - uninspired mid-speed with vibes
07 - 03:26 - mid-speed groove, jazzy samples, bluesy guitar
08 - 03:45 - indian sitar samples, repetitive
09 - 02:41 - mid-speed, groovy synth, cheesy english lecture voice samples
10 - 05:59 - slow sampled accoustic beat, bluesy guitar
11 - 03:45 - reggae rythm, programmed vibes
12 - 03:08 - seventies wah bass, rythm wah guitar, cheesy voice samples
13 - 04:26 - cool jazzy sampled instruments: rhodes keyboard, vibes, drums
14 - 03:38 - experimental feel, heavily distorted voice samples, phased windy sine wave lead
15 - 04:26 - beatless dark keyboards, not his forte
