Now that freaky Japanese are done plundering pop, garage and noise it appears they have taken on Miles Davis, early prog jazz and funk. And holy smokes is this good. Its like the best Miles Davis funky prog and Stevie Wonder as interpreted by Sun Ra’s mini moog on 750 mics of windowpane. Super hip offbeat experimentalism, multirhythmic, excellent electronics, samples, guits (Ootomo Yoshihide), percussion and stellar drumming. Songs are ong but well worth it. I never would’ve thunk the Japanese could be do ding dang funk-kay!
1) Miles Davis big fun bitches brew feel, wrt percussion, Rhodes, strange voice samples and synth
2) kick ass, more 70’s miles, this with sax
3) mellow cheesy love feel, sampled smooth jazz, huh? Weird
4) congas, polyrhythmic, long
5) Hey Joe: funky as hell Stevie Wonder ARP synth, picks up riff/melody in earnest and may be potted down as soundbed about 6 minutes in
6) more Stevie ARP, 70’s funk feel for sure
