This is 2 bands: the first one is progish, noisey near-free jazz (Monster Island, featuring a young Henry Kaiser), the majority of stuff is old garagey psyche punk 1977-79 of The Destroyed. It’s a document of Bert Switzer’s collaborations going back 25 years. Most of the recordings, The Destroyed, are poor ghetto blaster cassette with drop-outs, as the band “never recorded professionally”. Super cool stuff. I like The Destroyed best as a lot of psyche was being injected somehow, spontaneously, coming across as bands like Green on Red and Leaving Trains did 5 years later.
1) free-jazzlike jam, progish but noisey feedbacky and garagey too
2) low fi ghetto blaster punky all-out jam around theme of “Crazy Train”, sans vocs
3) psyche garage feel
4) upbeat driving garage
5) slightly surfier but still driving garage
6) slower dirgier
7) slower dirgier, dirty, fuzzy vocs come through
8) driving rocking lo-fi garage
9) this sounds like an old 7”, hissy and scratchy, arty dissonant guitar, red crayola’ish
10) improv feel, drums in front, scratchy vinyl
11) cleaner but still low fi recording of band that did killer tracks 4-8, mellow, slow, introspective
12) swingy mellower rock
13) upbeat driving rock
14) ballady, cut off at end of music because of FCCs when he is addressing crowd
15) upbeat, psyche garage
16) slow dirgey
17) lots of drop outs, munched tape, poor, sludgey
18) FCCs at very beginning, late 70’s punk feel, poor tape
19) snappy bad ass jazzy drum solo
