Local improvisers led by Philip Gelb on shakuhachi (Japanese wooden flute), giving it that mystic/Zen feel. The program is abstract improvising, tracing curves of sound rather than melody. Tim Perkis on computers adds odd electronic noises, adds kind of a jungle-creatures sound to the mix. On some tracks it melds nicely, on others it's a distraction.
Instrumentation: Shakuhachi / koto / piano / electronics.
1*- A nice quick sample; starts peaceful and gets jumpy
2- Soft, lullabye-like
3*- Mostly quiet; some fast skittish piano near the end
4- Opens w/sci-fi electronics whine, into a long, quiet segment. Not the most successful track.
5- Midtempo wanderings. Starts to 'click' in the second half. Includes an unbearable computer squeal about 3 minutes in.
6*- Slow, led by koto and piano. A dull-shine crystalline sound
7- Quiet and still
