Swag: No Such Thing Label: Ubiquity
This is an ultra-cool electro-disco-infused dance CD. The majority of the tracks are house-flavored, but the tracks are very unique and not formulaic like most clubby house. There is liberal use of wacky electronic effects mixed with some serious disco-funk licks. Swag is a long-time DJ producer from Sheffield, UK; his sound really showcases his knowledge of acid-house & electro. Please play! Try: 1,2,4,8,11,12,15.
1. Cute lounge-y intro drop s into funky house groove
2. Latiny! Breathy fem. vox, congas, happy cheerful groove
3. Electro-pop robo-vocals, some snappy beats, tweaky effects
4. Retro! total electro-funk, R&B vocals & old-style disco licks
5. Broken-up percussive layers, big funky bass
6. Cheery synth loop, deep house, has a funky beat to it
7. Not really dance-y track; kind of electro, wacky noodling around
8. Bumpin' beats, loopy synths, funky bass, think Derrick Carter & Chicago house
9. Tech-y tribal house, multiple percussive layers & beats
10. Disco/house w/ simple loops, swirls, effects
11. More disco-y house w/ some cool guitar samples laying down some solid funk
12. R&B vocals & some really cool big broken-beats in abstract pattern
13. Starts w/ some wacky electronics, goes into disco-y house
14. Catchy house, most clubby of the tracks on this CD, nice bassline
15. Lush synthy pop w/ breathy vocals. Nice.
