Green Rode Shotgun plays some good, solid rock and roll music on this album. They are a five member group out of Tennessee, made up of vocals, 2 guitar, bass, and drums. Although the songs are all fast, tight, and enjoyable, they don’t stand out from each other, and because of that, they are very forgettable. Track 9 is the only one on the album that stands out from the rest. Subsequently (or perhaps coincidentally,) track 9 is also my favorite of the bunch. Supposedly, all songs were written “collectively, with each member sharing credit.” Perhaps this is why the songs are all so uniform. I tried to give a track-by-track listing of what each song is about, but I either can’t understand the lyrics or I can’t make meaning of them on most songs. (Also, I was distracted by trying to determine if the ever-present squeak is from the bass drum pedal or the hi-hat pedal.)

Pics: 9

1. song about the monotony of (small town?) life
2. quirky song with lots of “la la la la la”s
3. nothing much about this song stands out
4. longer song – 5:19; there are some slower, softer portions of this song which make it stand out from the rest of them
5 – 8. more of the same
9. I like this one. It stands out from the other songs and it tells a story of the group’s name.
10 – 11. more of the same
