This CD is very fun. With the sense of humor of an 8 year old Frank Zappa, these kids (very obnoxiously) deconstruct prog, jazz, and indie rock. The tunes are really good, but it sounds like they were piss drunk the whole time, so it’s wonderfully sloppy. It’s like the smart-ass ADD class got good at their instruments, learned how to play all these different types of genres, then when they got bored with that, they’d just freak out in any way imaginable. Reminds me of Ween, but more juvenile, more unfocused, more impulsive, pure musical id.
)Zen-ish Buddhist intro yields to hard rock grind
)groovy 70’s rock turns country turns grungy. Subject: butthole
)*like Zappa, if he were shaken by the neck. Ooh, it’s good.
)*wonderfully overdriven oldies southern soul in the fashion of Skynard.
Oh man, hilarious phone message of chick wanting to chill
)*FCC: (barely audible) shit
Acoustic indie rock battles psycho electric free jazz in a funny narrative
)*super cool groove, then the four track breaks, then a Cars jam
)very groovy indie disco, like Ween dressed up as Earth Wind and Fire
)Spanish groove catches hair on fire
)smoky pink panther swing
)FCC: fuck. Indie rock with punk attitude, midtempo, complete with ninja breakdown
)poppy approach, with farts and belches and whistles, very “intoxicating”
)FCC: fucked up. Very unfocused, silly pop
)*heavy prog delight. Play this fucking song!
)*loungey bossa nova, like a hangover from #4, another poor female victim on the answering machine
)obnoxious rock
