A live set of modern hipster jazz from trumpeter Truffaz, mostly mellow but with some surprisingly loud tracks.
As usual, Truffaz shows an affinity for slow BPM kinds of grooves (played out on an acoustic drum kit). He also puts lots of atmospheric echo on his trumpet, as well as the occasional electronic manipulation of his sound.
On a couple of tracks, the band breaks character and rocks out, fuzzing up the electric bass to sound like a guitar. You'd expect these tracks to turn out embarrassing, but they're actually not bad (3,6,9).
1/2* - Ambient intro, then a retro funk groove
3*- Midtempo loud guitar rock-out.
4- Slow, floaty
5*- Cool-grooving repetitious piano riff, like they're emulating dance music.
6- A classic-rock kind of groove, with a bit of funk.
7- Slow, warm. Drifty electric piano.
8- Small, mellow
9- A milder rock-out than 3, with borderline smooth-jazz trumpet lines
10- Slow & pretty
