COLL: Crossing Jordan Soundtrack
Label: Sony
This is the soundtrack to the TV show “Crossing Jordan”, which stars one of my favorite actresses, Jill Hennessy (who I liked much more in “Law & Order”). Anyways, the compilation features mostly acoustic and folky ballads, with hints of country, blues, and soul. And who knew Jill Hennessy could sing? She doesn’t do too badly. Try: 3,5,6,9,14.
1. slow & wistful soul ballad
2. mellow male vocal w/ some orchestral backing
3. pretty folk song w/ fem vocal
4. acoustic folk lullaby by jazz singer Cassandra Wilson
5. a long song – has a spooky Doors quality to it
6. a total downer country song – but nice
7. male vocal straight-up acoustic blues roots song
8. earthy male vocal, nice piano, slow drums
9. star of the show sings a pretty (and sad) song
