BURNING SPEAR - FreeMan
Burning Spear, 2003
This is the first new studio album from Burning Spear in about four years. He's stayed true to the classic roots sound, and all of these are Rastafarian tunes of faith and social commentary, in the classic style. Perhaps the songs are too simplistic and repetitive, but otherwise, this is a solid release.
Fo's Picks: 3, 6, 8, 11, 12
1. midtempo, keep your trust in Jah
2. simple, perky song of faith in Jah
3. nice positive vibe & cute groove
4. tropical vibe, social message
5. celebration of music, w/rock guitar
6. Rastafarian pride song; good vocal
7. let de Rastas live in peace, mon!
8. great message and a bubbly beat
9. Marcus Garvey praise
10. honoring the old school of reggae
11. message of strength; good background
12. uptempo, chant-like call for change
