Chaino "New Sounds in Rock n' Roll: Jungle Rock" - Pronounced Cha-ee-no. Some seriously weird jazzy/bluesy/exotica music here. I'll let you read the liner notes on this guy (you'll want to, the story is pretty insane). This was originally recorded back in the 1950's and is the kind of thing you might expect to be called rock 'n roll from the 50's. It's mostly filled with piano, guitar, and sax playing fun jazzy romps, some boogie-woogie, and some nice cool laid back numbers. There is also some killer bongo on most songs. And since this is supposed to be "African" music you'll hear some nice heavy breathing and grunting now and then. This album is totally fun and although the sound quality isn't super, I think that adds to its character and charm. If you're looking for something fun and a little goofy, look no further. Each song is worth a listen so play it already!

1) Starts with chipmunk voices. Weird. Band comes in with an uptempo bouncing romp. It's kinda jazzy in that 1950's rock style. Chipmunk voice comes in here and there and other people yell "yeah!"
2) Starts with a nice bongo break and some heavy breathing. Sax comes in with a boogie woogie style song. Bouncy and fun. Lots of yells and grunts.
3) Another nice bongo break. Fast uptempo swinging rock/jazz number. Fun dance music. Great guitar and sax and a killer bongo break in the middle.
4) Starts very quiet with bongo and vocals. Then pops in with some jumping sax and boogie piano.
5) Slower guitar strumming. Oooh, some piercing flute comes in. Solid midtempo and groovy. Some bongo here and there. Fades out slowly.
6) Someone yells "Voodoo" and then bongos come in. Sax honks in here and there. A bit tribal feeling, especially with the screams and yells. Although the guitar hits make it just a bit jazzy.
7) Bongo starts it off with a spoken intro. Then it goes right into a jazzy cool rumbling sax number. Then guitar gets a solo. Slowly fades out.
8) An uptempo jazzy/bluesy romp. Slides around a lot on sax and then a killer bongo break in the middle!
9) Starts with heavy breathing and grunting. Then they lay down a cool bluesy/jazzy guitar and piano line. Very sexy and slow with breaks in there for some more heavy breathing.
10) Low and rumbling drums start it off and then sax comes blaring in along with some vocals. The vocals go away and the sax keeps screaming. Wow. This is low, raw, and rough.
11) Bongo starts it off and it goes into some smooth vocals that are mirrored by the sax. Cool and sexy. Laid back and jazzy.
12) Sounds like muffled steel drums. Definitely more of an island feel on this one. Happy and fun. Jazzy piano and sax with a nice steel drum solo near the end (although the sound quality isn't great on that).
