Oranger is GREAT local indie-pop, derived from Beatlesque melody and '70s sounds (major 7th chords, tight harmonies).
This is a two-CD set ... Disk 1 is the new Oranger album, 11 great tracks. Disk 2 is a collection of older songs and rarities, excellent stuff that doesn't have that "outtake" sound (well, mostly). These guys are a local treasure.
Some faves:
2- "Hit single," a chugging midtempo beat, melancholy but rocking
4- Gentle psych rock with some cool time-signature twists
8- Parlour pop? Happy, quaint White-Album-like ditty
11- Slow reprise of track 2
13 (disk 2 track 2) - Big dark bassline with comforting lush chords.
14 (disk 2 track 3) - Dreamy, breezy late-'60s pop, great stuff
35 (disk 2 track 24) - Instrumental version of "Suddenly Upsidedown," a song from their previous album
The CD ends with six very short, silly takes of "23 Skidoo."
