In your face industrial rock with some slower tunes sprinkled throughout makes WWIII a great addition to their line of albums. KMFDM is a German acronym which stands for "no pity for the masses" and they make it a point to outline this throughout this album. The entire album takes a political stance on numerous issues making headlines today and has an opinion on them with title such as "Stars and Stripes," "Moron," and "Bullets, Bombs and Bigotry." Additionally, this album moves away from using electronic instruments to make music and employs the talents of the "live" band used on the "Sturm und Drang" tour. They do a fabulous job of putting things together and put out a kick ass album.
the good: killer sound; great to see that they haven't lost their edge the bad: the pissed off sound dies out a bit as the album progresses the ugly: nuthin'
potty-mouth tracks: 3,6,9,11(see inside for times)
(note: rating numbers are out of 10 and following each track description)
1.WWIII: the reason they rock; funny "country" intro; my fave of the album (9.5) 2.From Here on Out: most friendly track of the album; good female vocals (9) 3.Blackball: "dancier" track of the album (i.e. something I'd play at an industrial club); swears: "I give shit back to thee" (-3:58) (-2:47)(-1:24) (8) 4.Jihad: slower, harsher w/ guitars (7) 5.Last Things: faster beat; good fem. vocals and sample on the intro (8) 6.Pity for the Pious: slower; harder guitar riffs; swears: "I'll fuck you all"(-2:50)(-1:36) (7) 7.Stars & Stripes: good beat; Rammstein has some definite competition with this track (9) 8.Bullets, Bombs & Bigotry: nice beat, again; political message is central point (8) 9.Moron: electronic drums in the intro w/ guitars taking over; too much swearing...avoid this track; swears: "punkass motherfuckers"(-4:50), "bullshit walks"(-2:45), "stupid fuckhead" (-2:09)(-1:42) 10.Revenge: lower sounding vocals and drums in the background and then come forward (8) 11.Intro: cool concept; how the band sees each member; swears: "it's the same old shit" (-2:26)(-1:01), "this good why fuck with it"(-2:18)(-0:55)
