Karminsky Experience Inc.: The Power of Suggestion
Label: ESL Music (Eighteenth Street Lounge)
It’s no surprise that Thievery Corporation’s label, ESL Music, put this album out. Karminsky Experience was featured on their mix-CD several years ago, and they have a unique brand of downtempo, lounge, exotica, trippy electronica, etc. I loved this CD. The best track is #11, but also try: 2,3,4,7,8.
1. chill-out lounge w/ mellow vibraphones
2. starts loungey, gets into a funky chugga-chugga groove, dramatic synths
3. spy-like, w/ cool vocal samples & funky groove
4. bumpin! Funky beats, exotic Middle-Eastern samples
5. spy-jazz-lounge vibe – deep male vox & teaser babe vocals
6. funky groove, deep bass, w/ gurgly electronics & breathing & laughter samples
7. Latin-jazz crossed w/ Persian melodies & sexy female vox – cool!
8. mad funky percussion layers – w/ Indian influences
9. again, great percussion layers over a polka oompa-oompa type beat
10. exotic and mysterious ambient-ish interlude
11. I love this song – bumpin’ breakbeats & a catchy sitar loop w/ dope vocal samples – this was the song featured on Thievery Corp.’s “DJ Kicks” compilation
12. tinkly plinky lounge
13. short ambient interlude
14. space-y trip-hop acid-jazz/funk
