Shujaat Khan has a strong presence at the station. He is the son of the famous late Ustand Vilayat Khan. He himself is a very famous sitar player and a singer too. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar is a famous sarod player. This album showcases their talents in the duet presentation of the sitar and the sarod focusing on Raga Jor. Highly recommended.
Track 1: This track has no tabla accompaniment. Only the sarod and sitar compliment each other. Very slow introductory beginning. Then changes its pace to very fast then slows down to a beautiful end. Amazing duet between the two stringed instruments. Have not heard of such a unique combination.
Track 2: Tabla participates in this piece. This is a medium/fast paced track. Goes back and forth between the tempos. Short spurts of fast sitar/tabla/sarod. Rises to a crescendo and comes to almost an abrupt ending. Livelier than the first.
