Mellow 60s retro pop. Borderline indie-pop, I am dubbing it “alterna-pop”. Ethereal, nostalgic, atmospheric, bitter sweet sad. Vintage-sounding jangly reverby guitars and sustained organ chords. There’s an evasive folk feel. This is way too sugary pop but nothing wrong with that. I can see these guys hitting it big time mainstream one day. The over-produced vocals make me love and hate. This is like a mix of the Replacements, the Magnetic Fields, the Beatles, Simon Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Will Oldham and… gulp… the Wallflowers.
Play 7, 9, 1, 5, 6, 8, 2.
1. Violin intro. Reverby guitars. Sugary psych-pop melodies
2. Sitar-like melodies. An ode to the Beatles classic LP Revolver? Nice keys.
3. Bob Dylanish chorus and organ hooks.
4. 1:30 min acoustic slow, folky-sounding, pop-instrumental.
5. Pretty Beatlesque, nostalgic, organ-driven, pop sentimental piece. Wah-wah effects
6. Delicate reverby guitars, nice vocal hooks. Pop melody.
7. Catchy lead guitar riff and overproduced vocals. The Replacements.
8. Jangly mid-tempo guitars, somber vocals and mood.
9. This makes me think… Magnetic Fields meet Will Oldham.
